CHROMIS
Metamorphosis timing and characteristics in the spiny chromis
Lola did a 6-month research internship with us in 2025, during the second year of Master Degree at the University of Toulon, and extended with a 1-month contract as an assistant engineer, under the supervision of Marc Besson in the EcoEvoDevo team, and in collaboration with Dr. Alexandra Ter Halle from SOFTMAT, Magali Albignac from E7C, and Dr. Jean-François Gighlione from LOMIC.
This project focused on establishing a first developmental table for the spiny chromis (Acanthochromis polyacanthus) and examining the effects of a cocktail of endocrine disruptors found in environmental microplastic debris (collected at sea) on its embryonic development. It involved the study of embryotoxicity biomarkers such as mortality, pigmentation pattern formation, retinal development, cardiac development and heart rate, as well as swimming performance at hatching.
After her internship with us, Lola took a assistant engineer position at CEFREM, France, where she pursued her research on fish ecophysiology and ecotoxicology.
