Elisa’s internship aimed at describing the series of changes in morphology, pigmentation patterns, endocrinology, and behaviours of the two-banded seabream (Diplodus vulgaris) during its larval recruitment and metamorphosis. To perform this integrative analysis of D. vulgaris metamorphosis, Elisa participated in the sampling of larval and juvenile fishes, and was in charge of the photography of larval seabreams using a stereomicroscope, in the analysis of these images using ImageJ, Python and R, in the extraction of RNA and thyroid hormones, in the measure of gene expressions (qPCR) and hormonal levels (ELISA), and in the investigation of fish visual preferences (choice tanks).
