Jules Tresca

As part of his Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences and Engineering at EPFL, Jules joined the EcoEvoDevo team for a two-month field internship in summer 2026, under the supervision of Marc Besson, as part of the ANEMOBS project.

His work focuses on the ecological monitoring of Anemonia viridis populations along the Côte Vermeille, tracking bleaching dynamics and thermal stress across snakelocks anemone morphs in response to marine heatwaves. Prior to this internship, Jules spent three years as a lab assistant at EPFL’s Laboratory of Biogeochemistry, where he helped researchers study the physiology of the cnidarian–Symbiodiniaceae symbiosis under light and thermal stress. An engineer by training rather than a biologist, but one who’s spent more hours looking at anemones than most people ever will.

After his internship with us, Jules is set to continue exploring marine science, with a Master’s thesis project on microplastics monitoring in the Red Sea.
